Society6 Website Redesign

Historically, mobile was something designers did as an afterthought once the desktop wireframes were designed. But now, with anywhere between 40% to 75% (Smart Insights, 2018) of visitors accessing sites via mobile, businesses can no longer treat a mobile site as secondary priority. This means designing a mobile site before designing the desktop site; this is called mobile first design. The process when designing a desktop version before the mobile version is developers code the desktop site, write style sheets to be responsive, and determine where the content blocks go. This creates a problem in a mobile view, as the developer would have to assume where the content blocks go, which is not always accurate. If mobile first design is done, the designer can figure out how to leverage and optimize the larger screen real estate available on a desktop. This would lead to a high-quality user experience in both environments.

Officeium Style guide

Officeium Style guide

As I was designing the Officeium website (a mock company), I also created a style guide. The purpose of the style guide was to help create a simple look and feel in order to attract a modern audience. This style guide could be used to assist in creating other assets to ensure that brand messaging is consistent.

The Officeium (mock company) website was created to be a more a more efficient job recruiting website. Think Indeed, ZipRecruiter, and monster, but without the pain points that these sites have. I ended up using a few known UI patters from these sites, however, I made them more user-friendly by cleaning them up. I also used several personal design elements to being the page to life.

Handyman on Demand Style Guide

Handyman on Demand Style Guide

I designed the Handyman On-Demand website based on a real handy man service whose website needed updating. This could be considered a redesign of the website. In addition to the redesign, I also put together this style guide. This guide updated the look and feel of the website. The style guide provides a modernized look with a clean and simple design. The style guide functions as a key document that helps content creators present a consistent message and identity to its target audience.
